This weekend at Road America, Hyperion Racing showcased a mix of triumph and tribulation across its three teams in the CMS iRTES series. From strategic maneuvers to on-track drama, it was a race to remember as all three Hyperion entries fought hard for championship points.
Hyperion Racing #44 - McLaren 720S GT3 Evo
Driving the #44 McLaren 720S GT3 Evo, Turner Schroll and Luke Wallace faced a challenging yet rewarding race. Starting from P11, the duo made an impressive early charge, climbing to P8 by lap 5. However, slight front-end damage began to hinder their pace, prompting a strategic pit stop on lap 9. After the service, they emerged in P30 but quickly began to make their way back through the field.
As the race progressed, Luke delivered an exceptional performance, posting the fastest laps and propelling the team as high as P2 during the pit cycle. The tire strategy paid off, allowing them to maximize their time on track. A full-service pit stop on lap 36 saw Luke continue for his last stint who resumed in P18. With a well-timed pit stop around lap 63 and a driver change to Turner Schroll, the #44 McLaren regained crucial positions during the pit cycles.
Turner’s stint was clean and incident-free, and despite fierce competition, he managed to finish P5, closing the gap to the championship leaders to just 9 points. The team left Road America with a sense of accomplishment and momentum as they head into the next round.
Hyperion Racing II - Porsche 963 GTP
The #944 Porsche 963 GTP faced a rollercoaster of challenges. After qualifying P8, the team’s hopes were briefly dashed when Alex Kurz encountered an off-track incident on lap 2, which cost them valuable positions. Despite this, Alex quickly recovered, making up ground on the opening lap before contact with an Acura led to a drive-through penalty for avoidable contact.
The situation worsened when a Cadillac made an aggressive move at Canada Corner, leading to another incident and dropping the team to the back of the field. After using a fast repair, Alex returned to the race, but further contact with a GT3 resulted in yet another drive-through penalty.
Dávid Végh took over next, facing a nail-biting spin on his out-lap due to damage but managed to regain composure and find a competitive rhythm. The team faced yet another drive-through for incident points, making it a tough outing.
Camden Kraft wrapped up the race, focusing on clean driving and managing traffic. Although he was poised to battle for P11 on track, he opted for a pit stop instead. While it was a rough day for Hyperion Racing II, they remain only 15 points behind in the championship, keeping their title hopes alive.

Hyperion Racing III - McLaren 720S GT3 Evo
The #104 McLaren 720S GT3 Evo, driven by Willy Brennan, Alex Rogers, and Josiah Farrow, had a challenging start after qualifying P15. Willy drove a steady first two stints, moving the team up to P12 while avoiding incidents and managing fuel.
Alex then took over and delivered a stellar performance, showcasing incredible pace and deftly navigating through traffic to elevate the car to P9. Josiah took the final stint and executed a successful splash-and-dash strategy. Unfortunately, on the last lap, he faced unexpected trouble when contact with a GTP car caused rear-end damage. Josiah managed to crab drive the remainder of the lap, crossing the line P10 overall and P9 in the Pro class.
Despite the challenges, the team displayed resilience and skill, highlighting their potential as they look ahead to the next race.
